The device uses a 24-camera array and provides a synchronized global shutter sensor that can capture 360-degree stereoscopic video up to 8K output resolution. In addition, Jaunt ONE also offers 18-stop exposure control, supports up to 20 hours of continuous recording of onboard memory, and its rugged design can withstand harsh weather conditions.
At the 2017 NASA event, Jaunt also announced new features for the upcoming Jaunt ONE, including support for 120 frames per second for shooting, real-time video playback, and white balance optimization.
Koji Gardiner, Jaunt’s vice president of hardware engineering, said: “Since we launched Jaunt ONE through a leasing company last summer, demand has remained strong. The next step is naturally to provide filmmakers with equipment. These filmmakers have been pushing the limits of creativity. They are eager to explore this medium and we are proud to offer them professionally designed professional-grade VR cameras."
Jaunt has not yet announced the retail price of the device, but consumers will be able to obtain equipment through B&H, as well as previous rental sites AbelCine and Radiant Images.
