In recent years, companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Samsung and Huawei have deployed voice assistant services and integrated artificial intelligence, neural networks and other technologies to continuously improve. Recently, the research team from Zhejiang University in China discovered a new vulnerability and named the attack method "DolphinAttack". The attack principle is to convert the frequency of voice commands issued by humans into ultrasonic frequencies. So these sounds are inaudible to the human ear, but the iPad, iPhone, MacBooks, Apple Watch, Amazon Echo and Lenovo ThinkPad T440p, and even the Audi Q3 can hear these commands.
During the scientific experiment, the researchers successfully invaded Google Assistant, Apple's Siri, Amazon's Alexa, Samsung's S Voice, Microsoft's Cortana and Huawei's HiVoice. It's unclear why Samsung's Bixby didn't participate in the test, probably because it wasn't officially released during the test.
Researchers can not only "silently" activate the voice assistant, but also perform calls, open the website, turn off the flight mode, and be able to open the door to unlock (already bound smart door lock) and other commands.
