introduction
In the modern steel industry, the traditional finished product size inspection is that the steel passes through all the processes, and the product can be tested after the wire reaches the collection area. This affects the time and cannot meet the fast-paced production needs of modern enterprises. With the development of science and technology and the advancement of modern rolling technology, the rhythm of wire rolling has been increasing. Higher requirements are placed on the technical specifications and accuracy of the testing equipment, and it is required to measure the size of the finished product more quickly, stably and accurately, so that the rolling rhythm of the wire can be improved and the yield of the product can be improved. At the same time, for hot-rolled steel enterprises, high temperature and harsh environment are also problems that need to be solved by online automated testing. To this end, we have developed a hot-rolled caliper to achieve on-line inspection of the wire diameter.
1. Hot rolling caliper
The hot-rolled caliper is an advanced equipment for measuring hot-rolled steel. It adopts the latest micro-processing technology and eight-axis omnidirectional inspection system to realize on-line real-time measurement of rolling stock. Eight sets of photoelectric probes are evenly distributed along the central axis inside the hot-rolling caliper to realize the inspection of the tested steel in the same direction in eight directions. Each set of probes is tested once every 2 milliseconds, and the rolled parts are produced. The slight twisting in the middle allows the hot-rolled caliper to detect the same cross-sectional profile in all directions.
The hot-rolled caliper uses the over-steel component to guide the steel to be tested through the caliper. The over-steel component is the mechanical structural part that guides the rolling material through the caliper, and is divided into independent over-steel parts and non-independent steel parts. It consists of steel guide groove, steel guide groove, air guide sleeve and water jacket. The steel guide groove and the steel guide groove are parts that are in direct contact with the rolled material, and the function is to guide the rolled material and ensure the safe passing of the rolled material through the caliper. A certain gap is left between the inlet and outlet guide grooves as a measurement area, and the light emitted from the emission lens is directed to the receiving lens through the measurement area.
Hot-rolling caliper The caliper, large LED display, high-pressure centrifugal fan and spare trolley are installed at the site of the rolling steel production line. The high-pressure centrifugal fan is equipped with an air filter device. The air outlet of the fan passes through the hose. The caliper delivers clean cold air, and the 380V power supply of the fan is connected nearby. The fan is powered off and controlled by the leakage protection switch. The hot-rolling caliper is equipped with an independent air supply system and a cooling and dust-proof device to prevent the water mist and the scale of the steel rolling process from entering the caliper to interfere with the optical system measurement. The hot-rolled caliper adopts an all-cast iron structure and some calculations to ensure that the hot-rolled rolled material can accurately measure the wire diameter.
2, caliper features
2.1, non-contact measurement
The eight sets of probes of the hot-rolling caliper adopt a single independent optical path, and measure the dimensions of the same section of the steel in the eight directions, respectively, to achieve non-contact measurement, even if one or several groups of damage does not affect the rest of the measurement. The detection of the head and the use of a green LED lamp with a wavelength of 520 nm as a light source avoids the problem of expensive use of the laser source and high running cost, and avoids measurement inaccuracy caused by ambient light and self-luminous steel.
2.2, visible full round shape wheel gallery display
The hot-rolled caliper is an eight-way measuring device. The distance between each set of probes is 22.5°. The slight twist of the rolled material ensures that the hot-rolled caliper can obtain the cross-sectional profile of the same section, and can also be made into an eight-axis oscillating test. The eight-axis test detects the wire diameter of the rolled material in all directions, displays the profile of the section, and displays the trend chart.
2.3, high measurement accuracy
In the case of static measuring instruments , the distortion and jitter of the rolling stock will cause measurement errors. The hot rolling caliper adopts the principle of photoelectric detection, which is very suitable for dynamic size detection. At the same time, the hot rolling caliper solves the measurement uncertainty caused by the rolling material shake. The problem is that the measurement accuracy is very high, and it can reach 0.02mm, achieving high-precision size detection. Hot-rolled calipers have high measurement accuracy, which increases the yield of quality products.

The hot-rolling caliper can calculate the equivalent cold-bar measurement value according to the rolling stock temperature and thermal expansion coefficient, and the measured value is more practical.
2.5, reliable protection device
The optical probe of hot-rolling caliper has positive pressure shunt cooling and dustproof technology to prevent heat radiation of hot-rolled pipe. The inlet pipe has purge gas protection, which can prevent water vapor, dust, iron oxide skin and other pollution to the probe, and ensure measurement. The gauge can measure high temperature rolled products at 1000 °C.
