Intersil Corporation announces the introduction of the 10-bit video digitizer ISL51002. The device combines easy-to-use, high-resolution video performance to create the ideal choice for digitizing analog YPbPr video from HDTV, set-top boxes, SD and HD DVD, and RGB graphics signals from personal computers and workstations.The ISL51002 has three speed grades up to 165MSPS and offers resolutions up to 1080p/UXGA at 60Hz - the latest standard. Its built-in black level compensation prevents color or hue variations from occurring, even due to temperature variations and their non-parallel DNL (differential nonlinearity - 0.25MHz frequency, typically +0.86LSB). Visible equipotential line errors are eliminated when grading images.
The ISL51002's digital PLL has high immunity and low jitter performance of 250ns (typ) and 500ns (max), eliminating the need for an analog loop filter. The highly innovative PLL is the easiest to use in the industry, allowing you to program one parameter for optimal video performance.
The device also features an integrated synchronous measurement circuit that eliminates the development time to implement this feature in software. The circuit analyzes the input sync signal from the perspective of type, polarity, and pulse width. The data necessary for proper display is read from the internal registers via the I2C interface.
And, the ISL52002 features an integrated auto-sampling phase adjustment that evaluates 64 different sampling phases per second and selects the best phase to provide the sharpest image. It also features a powerful MacrovisionTM-compatible sync separator that prevents visual interference when displaying Macrovision protection signals or when encountering head-switching noise from analog VCRs.
The 4:1 MUX input of the ISL51002 provides excellent design flexibility. The integrated RGB to YUV color-to-space converter, which allows users to process RGB signals in YUV space, simplifies design.
Target applications for the ISL51002 include flat panel TVs, front/rear projection TVs, PC LCD monitors and projectors, high quality scan converters and video/graphics processing.
The ISL51002 is now available in a 128-lead MQFP package and is priced at $8.24 in 1000 units.
