AI technology has entered people's lives, and it has changed people's lives. NVIDIA has presented the concept of an AI city to the world. And has been struggling on this project, recently, Nvidia said that it has made a big breakthrough, enough to subvert our lives.
Video is the world's largest source of data, taken by more than 500 million cameras a day worldwide. By double the number of years to 2020, this number will double. These video sources come from a wide range of sources, such as government property, public transportation, bus stops, and retail stores. If we can analyze this data, the potential possibilities are unimaginable.
The result is the AI city proposed by Nvidia, a thinking robot that monitors our infrastructure through millions of pairs of glasses to ensure people's safety.
Milind Naphade, CTO of the NVIDIA AI City Project, said: "We have always regarded video data as an after-the-fact use case. But these ubiquitous sensors can have an impact on public safety, transportation, parking management, law enforcement and city services."
For us, the challenge now is to move, store data and analyze any timeline. Video is also a special type of sensor that does not give a specific indicator like a temperature sensor or a pressure sensor. Video needs to be parsed by powerful deep learning algorithms, and the ability to generate algorithms for insights at any time is also highly demanding.
Naphade said: "However, we finally achieved a breakthrough from the edge to the cloud."
Introduced in May, Metropolis is a video platform from the edge to the cloud, providing tools, technology and support to create smarter and faster AI applications. It is designed to connect AI to all cameras, local video recorders and servers, and the cloud. As neural networks get more and more sophisticated recognition tasks, their accuracy and scalability are greatly improved, and they are even allowed to save lives and save money.
Whether it is a large traffic management network or a sparsely populated subway or train station, it can be monitored 24 hours a day, and when passengers are in trouble or dangerous, they will call for assistance. The train tracks have to undergo numerous wears every day. There are more than 600,000 bridges in the United States alone. Each maintenance inspection will result in several kilometers of traffic congestion. The use of video drones for inspections allows the transportation department to eliminate the need to close the Golden Gate Bridge.
More than 50 NVIDIA AI City partners are now offering products and applications that use GPUs for deep learning, including Avigilon, Dahua, Hanwha Tyco, Hikvision, Alibaba, Huawei and Milestone. Industry leader.
With Metropolis, Hikvision achieves a 90%+ response and matching technology response, which means it's easier to find lost people in crowded places. This application uses cameras, network recorders, intensive computing systems for edge and cloud servers, and AI supercomputers for training.
Alibaba's cloud-based urban brain provides real-time traffic management and forecasting services, urban services and smarter drainage systems. In the pilot area of Hangzhou, the urban brain effectively relieved 11% of traffic congestion.
Huawei is using intelligent video analytics and vehicle information, speed, direction and other data to solve traffic congestion problems, providing real-time traffic analysis and improving traffic flow. It has been able to reduce the congestion rate by 15%.
In addition, NVIDIA is accelerating its partnership with partners, bringing together applications from more than a dozen software partners, making it easier for system integrators and hardware vendors to build new products.
These include SenseTIme facial recognition solutions designed for public safety, retail and access control. The company is working with industry leaders such as China Mobile, China UnionPay and Sina Weibo to apply its technology to security, regulatory, finance, education and robotics.
In addition, NVIDIA's Metropolis platform is being piloted in the Bay Area to leverage its technology to create an easier, friction-free parking experience.
Naphade said: "Pilot projects have sprung up, and we are seeing more and more cities beginning to show interest in this technology."
In the past, you felt that you could not survive without electricity. And now, without the Internet you can't survive. In the next few years, we will see AI gradually become our daily life.
He said: "AI will permanently and irreversibly change the mode of transportation and city. I can tell you that every city will use AI. There are no exceptions."
