Raychem RPG opens India's first 1MW microgrid

Recently, Dynapower, a Vermont-based inverter supplier, and Raychem RPG, a technology provider based in Mumbai, India, opened a microgrid that is said to be India's first 1MW, built in Uttar Pradesh. At the Central Electronics Limited (CEL) plant in Sahibadad, the microgrid uses a combination of solar power, diesel generators and energy storage systems.

The project uses Dynapower's CPS-1000 frequency converter. Following the cooperation agreement, Dynapower provides its energy storage inverter technology to India and other SAARC countries.

Microgrid can provide “island” grid power generation mode in case of grid interference

The distributed power generation microgrid built at the CEL plant combines solar power systems, diesel generator sets, and grids connected to battery energy storage systems.

When connected to the grid, this commercial and industrial (C&I) microgrid can perform frequency regulation, photovoltaic smoothing, and power peaking to reduce the high electricity bills of CEL plants, but it can also provide “island” grid power generation in the event of grid disturbances. mode.

Rayman RPG President and CEO Ramani Kasi said: "Dynapower provides us with differentiated technologies such as its patented dynamic transmission and agile business model. It also provides inverters and fully integrated systems in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector. , uniquely positioned solutions, and positive growth ideas, these are perfectly matched to the Raychem RPG business model."

Peter Pollak, CEO of Dynapower, added: "For more than 50 years, we have deployed a large number of power electronics products around the world and pioneered the development of energy storage inverters, including the first UL-1741 listed smart inverter. We are pleased to be able to provide our technology and patents to India and SAARC countries as part of the agreement."

Raychem RPG is a joint venture between the US company TE ConnecTIvity and India RPG Enterprises.

In addition, ABB recently opened a microgrid solution at the Vadodora manufacturing facility in Gujarat, which is said to be India's first microgrid solution.
