Stanford researchers develop carbon nanotube classification technology

Carbon nanotubes can make many electronic devices cheaper and more efficient, but when nanotubes are manufactured, solar cell nanotubes and battery nanotubes are mixed together, resulting in the final product being a nanotube powder, which is for any single commercial application. Not an ideal choice.

Stanford University Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering Bao Zhe Nan and collaborators from the University of California, Davis, and the Samsung Advanced Technology Institute have discovered a new technique for selectively classifying semiconductor single-walled carbon nanotubes in mixtures.
