In the past two years, the state has promoted 210 million high-efficiency lighting products nationwide through financial subsidy promotion methods. It is expected to save 8.8 billion kWh of electricity per year, 8.8 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and 88,000 tons of sulfur dioxide. The overall competitiveness of enterprises participating in financial subsidy promotion has been improved, and the domestic market share has been significantly improved. The pass rate of product quality inspections is much higher than that of the national random inspections in the past year, and the results have been remarkable.
Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance issued the "Notice on the Release of the Tasks for the Promotion of High-Efficiency Lighting Products for Financial Subsidies in 2010". This year, more than 150 million high-efficiency lighting products will be promoted through financial subsidies. In order to make this policy benefit more residents in rural areas, the Notice clearly requires that the proportion of promotion in rural and poverty-stricken areas should not be less than 30% of the total this year.
