Sharp introduces LED devices for 100W class lighting

Sharp announced on February 7, 2013 that it has developed a very bright LED device "GW7GAL50SGC" and will begin sampling on March 5, 2013.

The device's luminous flux is as high as 14,000 lm, which Sharp calls "the industry's highest value" in 100W lighting LED devices. The device is suitable for use as a light source for lighting products and streetlights mounted on high ceilings. The device uses a material with a high thermal conductivity as a substrate to improve heat dissipation. The luminous efficiency is increased to 143 lm/W, which improves energy saving performance. In the past, 50W grade LED devices have a luminous efficiency of only 110 lm/W.

With a lifetime of up to 40,000 hours, the device reduces the burden of maintenance. Moreover, the connector is used to connect to the wiring, and no soldering work is required. The size of the device is 86.mm6 x 75.0 mm x 3.9 mm (without the protruding portion of the connector). The color rendering index (Ra value) was 70 or more, and the color temperature was 7000K.
