As the Cardboard virtual reality experience becomes more and more popular on our mobile phones, we are slowly discovering that we need a virtual reality experience that can be carried around without hindrance.
To achieve this goal, a group of designers came up with a more elegant way to solve this problem: an iPhone case with a virtual reality viewing experience.
The Figment VR phone case has two virtual reality lenses embedded in a stylish case to protect your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus phones. A simple slide assembly can flip and extend the lens from the back of the phone case, and when you flip back in the fold, it fits snugly against the phone case.
I believe many people will question the true purpose of such devices, but the New York Times’ recent million Cardboard trials and a large number of positive responses from users indicate that Figment VR is likely to have a large potential market.
However, this dual-purpose device sacrifices the best virtual reality experience. Due to lack of top and two sides of the casing, Figment will seriously affect the immersive experience. Figment VR is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter and offers both black and white versions for $49 and $59. The crowdfunding goal is 75,000 U.S. dollars, and it has reached 20,000 U.S. dollars in just one day.
The wire harness simplifies the building of these larger components by integrating the wiring into a single unit, or several units, for [drop-in" installation. By binding the many wires, cables, and subassemblies into a harness, the OEM or installer only has one component to install. In addition, a wire harness allows the completed assembly to be better secured against the effects of abrasion and vibration, and by constricting the wires into a non-flexing bundle, usage of space is optimized.
