Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of a new series of positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistors with radial leads - TFPTL. The devices feature a nickel film core and a positive temperature coefficient of +4110ppm/K with a response time of less than 2 seconds and high stability over a wide temperature range of -55°C to +150°C.

Vishay 's thermistors are available in two sizes with 2.5mm and 5.0mm pitch, giving designers a wide range of standard resistance values ​​from 100 ohms to 5K ohms at +25°C (R25) with tolerances of ± 1% and ±5%. Non-standard resistance and tolerance are available upon request.

With excellent long-term stability (typical drift <0.1%) and high temperature performance, the TFPTL family of devices can be used for temperature measurement, detection, compensation and control in industrial and consumer applications. In addition, these devices can replace temperature sensors based on silicon materials. Typical end products include heating/cooling systems, motor drives, fan control, power supplies, and consumer products.

The TFPTL series of thermistors are UL listed in the US and Canada and include a thin film ceramic chip and two tinned copper clad steel wires. The device complies with the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, conforms to WEEE 2002/96/EC, and is coated with a layer of epoxy resin conforming to per UL 94 V-0.

Samples and production quantities of the new PTC thermistors are available now, with lead times of ten weeks for larger orders.
